Religious Services

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Services:
The LDS Church offers many different services for the inmates.
The volunteers offer Priesthood blessings and spiritual guidance.
They help with giving moral support as well as give religious instructions.
Sacrament: Sundays 2:00 pm-3:00pm
12 Step Addiction Recovery Group Sundays 6:00 pm-7:00pm
Institute Classes Tuesday 7:00pm-8:00pm
Gospel Principles (Priesthood Meeting) Wednesday 7:00pm-8:00pm
Choir Practice Thursday 7:00pm-8:00pm
St. Dismas Episcopal Church Services:
This once a week Communion services is offered to the inmates
to share the words of the gospel of Jesus Christ,
And to give moral and Spiritual guidance.
Communion Services Wednesday 1:00pm-2:00pm
Jehovah Witness Church Services:
The dates and times vary depending on the volunteers and the attendance of the inmates.

Recreation:

Recreation is offered to Inmates at the San Juan County Jail in the designated recreation area, where they are able to play Handball, Basketball, exercise, and get fresh air. Block schedules are managed by administration to allow fairness in participation. Inmates may not receive Recreation for disciplinary or administrative reasons.

    Visitation Rules:

  • Visits may be limited to 15 minutes. Inmates may not receive visits for disciplinary or administrative reasons.
  • An inmate’s visiting list shall not exceed immediate family and 5 adult, non-immediate family members.
  • Only one single visitor of the opposite gender shall be permitted to be on the visiting list of any one single inmate at any given time, except for members of the inmates immediate family. (Exceptions shall be evaluated on a case by case basis as necessary to maintain the safety, security, and management interest of the San Juan County Jail.)
  • An individual shall not be on more than one inmate visiting list, unless that individual is a member of the immediate family of all inmates involved and is approved as a visitor by the officer/designee. (Exceptions shall be evaluated on a case by case basis)
  • All visitors that wish to visit a state inmate must fill out a visitation application and mail it into the San Juan Co. Jail. Instuctions: Fill out the form completely as instructed, print, sign and send to the Jail.
  • All visitors will be required to be modestly dressed. Immodest or provocatively dressed visitors will be denied access.
  • All visitors except those under the age of 16 must show photo identification with their Birthday, current address, and signature. A parent or legal guardian must accompany visitors under the age of 18, unless the visitor is a spouse. A spouse under the age of 18 must provide a marriage license and photo identification to be admitted for a visit.
  • A warrants check will be done on all visitors. Visitors with pending felony charges and extensive criminal histories will not be allowed to visit.
  • Special Visits may be arranged by the inmate for visitors that live more than 100 miles from the jail. Special visits are limited to one per month per inmate. Special Visits will not be scheduled during normal visiting hours. Inmates use a request form to request a special visit and include the date and time requested as well as the name(s) of the visitor(s).

    Employment offered at the San Juan County Jail for the Inmate consists of:

  • 1-Sewing Job
  • 1-Library Job
  • 5-Culinary Jobs
  • 1-Laundry Job
  • 1-Janitorial Job
  • 2-Rotator Jobs (Gives other workers a day off)

    Road crew jobs are offered based on availability to the State Inmates who have gained their Level 5-A classification (partially determined by having a release date from the Board of Pardons of less than 36 months and being map compliant).
