GOLD QUEEN GULCH

General Description: The view is south southeast toward the abandoned Gold Queen mill site.

Legal Description:
NW1/4NE1/4 Section 12 T.34S., R.22E.

COMPARISON:
The mill site has been naturally rehabilitated in the 84 years between photographs. Major plant species now occupying the site include aspen, douglas fir, white fir, willow and snowberry. The mill site and adjacent north facing slope seem to have more aspen trees and fewer conifers in 1999 than 1915. This situation is the opposite of others found throughout Utah. Mill debris such as building foundations, powder house, frames and wheels litter the understory.
