VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTS

La Sal Senior Center Aide - Step 1, $8.68 per hour.  Permanent part-time.  Opened until filled.

General Purpose:  Provides assistance to center director, cook and drivers. 

Supervision Received: Works under the general direction of the Aging Director and under the specific direction of the Center Director. 

Supervision Exercised:  None

Example of Duties: 

bulletAssists cook with preparation and serving of meals, and cleanup;
bulletGeneral clean up of the center (Vacuum, dust, windows, etc.) as assigned by Director
bulletAssists Center Director with senior activities;
bulletAssists with transportation services;
bulletPerforms related duties as required, i.e. yard maintenance.
bulletAssists and works with senior citizens.

Minimum Qualifications:

bulletMust be at least 18 years of age.
bulletGraduation from standard senior high school or equivalent;
bulletMust possess current valid Utah driver's license.
bulletAt least 3 years driving experience;
bulletMust complete an official defensive driving course;
bulletMust have or be able to obtain a food handler's permit;

Working Conditions:

Considerable standing, sitting, bending and crouching.  Must be able to lift 20-30 pounds.  Working in unusual weather conditions and some unconventional working hours.  Subjected to dust, dirt, asphalt, grease, oils, dampness, fumes, heat, pollens and organic materials. 

Working Hours:

This is a part time position.  There are no guarantees of a specific number of hours.  Hours will vary according to scheduling.  Every effort will be made to keep hours below 29 hours per week.

Digital Scanning Technician - Step 35, $10.01 per hour.  Temporary Part-time.    Opened until filled.

General Purpose:  Scanning and cataloging the historical photograph collection of the San Juan County Historical Commission.  The position is temporary and will last until the project is completed or funding is exhausted.

Supervision Received: Works under the general direction of the Historical Society and the IT Supervisor.   

Supervision Exercised:  None

Example of Duties: 

Current skills and abilities in the use of computers and computer technology and software.  Familiarity with office productivity software and imaging programs.  Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with fellow employees and be able to work independently when supervision is not readily available.  The work requires an orientation to detail and an ability to make independent judgments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from High School or GED Certificate.

Must be at least 18 years of age or older.

Working Conditions:

Considerable sitting, bending and crouching. Working in an office setting. Subjected to dust, dirt, heat, pollens and organic materials.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk; or hear.
