SAN JUAN COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING August 16, 2010 The regular meeting of the San Juan County Commission was held at 10:00 A.M. in the Commission Room at Monticello, Utah. Present: Bruce Adams, Chairman Kenneth Maryboy, Vice Chair Rick Bailey, SJC Administrator Norman L. Johnson, SJC Clerk/Auditor Dawn Shaw, SJC Deputy Clerk Absent: Lynn Stevens, Commissioner Attendees: Jerry McNeely, Charlie DeLorme, Larry Sorrell, Kelly Pehrson, Marilyn Boynton, Lynn Laws, Walter Bird, Linda Larson, Howard Randall A motion to approve the minutes of August 9, 2010, with corrections, was made by Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy. Commissioner Bruce Adams seconded the motion. None opposed. Vote unanimous. Lynn Laws – SJC Road Department Lynn presented a procurement request for two 2010 T800 Conventional Truck (chassis only) in the amount of $107,229/ea from Kenworh. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy. Commissioner Bruce Adams seconded the motion. None opposed. Vote unanimous. Charlie DeLorme – SJC Ec. Development Charlie reported to Commissioners that the Four Corners Monument ribbon cutting is September 17th. He stated that several representatives from around the area will be there and asked for Commission presence. Linda Larson – SJC EMS Linda reported to Commissioners on her trip to Washington D.C. to speak to the Institute of Medicine on the bus crash that happened near Mexican Hat in 2008. She stated that the Institute will be publishing a book on this conference along with recommendations for areas to get help with funding and grants. She also spoke in Vail, CO on the bus accident. Walter Bird – SJC Deputy County Attorney Walter presented a draft Resolution to Assert Coordination Authority to Request that the Federal Land Management Agencies Coordinate with the County on Land Use Inventory and Management Efforts for approval and signature. Commissioners asked that this be tabled to next week. Norman L. Johnson – SJC Clerk/Auditor Norman reported to Commissioners that the audit is just a couple days from being finalized. He also stated that the SJCWCD audit is complete and that the board is functioning well however there is still an opening for Mexican Hat. Norman reported to Commissioners that he will be attending a UAC executive meeting tomorrow in Moab with the Grand County Council. Rick Bailey – SJC Administrator Rick presented two building permits for approval and signature. Bryan Bowring – Residence – 1216 E Clayhill Dr, Monticello Jared Barrett – Barn/Storage – 1690 N Pinion Ridge Dr, Blanding A motion to approve both building permits, provided all appropriate signatures are in place and subject to any non-county area restrictions, was made by Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy. Commissioner Bruce Adams seconded the motion. None opposed. Vote unanimous. Rick reported that he had a conference call with AOG and that he and Jerry attended a training in Duchesne for the Nuclear Power Plant that is proposed for Green River. Jerry McNeely – SJC Liaison Jerry reported to Commissioners on the meetings he has attended including a Housing Authority Board meeting, Water Shed meeting and he also attended the Grand Opening for the Veteran’s Clinic in Moab. Commission Reports Commissioner Maryboy reported that he attend a meeting in Pocatello, ID for Native American Tribes and Public Lands. Tonight he will be at the Aneth Chapter to hand out deer tags then he plans to be in Salt Lake Tuesday and Wednesday. Commissioner Adams reported that he attended the fair last week and would like to compliment the fair coordinator and workers. He will be at BOE from 4-7PM this afternoon and in Cedar City for UCIP on Thursday. Adjourn 11:25 A.M. 1
