SAN JUAN COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING June 14, 2010 The regular meeting of the San Juan County Commission was held at 10:00 A.M. in the Commission Room at Monticello, Utah. Present: Bruce Adams, Chairman Kenneth Maryboy, Vice Chair Lynn Stevens, Commissioner Rick Bailey, SJC Administrator Dawn Shaw, SJC Deputy Clerk Attendees: Jerry McNeely, Keith Price, Tony Mondae, Larry Sorrell, Kevin Mueller, Cyndi Eldredge, Marilyn Boynton, Scott Mitchell, John Fellmeth, Maxine Deeter, Walter Bird, Tim Peterson, Howard Randall Cyndi Eldredge – SJC Personnel Cyndi presented a request to hire Emily Carr and Holly Fellmeth for the Monticello Library Assistants, both Grade 1 Step 1 positions. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Vote unanimous. Walter Bird – SJC Human Resources Walter reported to Commissioners that he has drawn up a draft letter to the BLM concerning the closure of roads in the County. Commissioner’s read and agreed with the draft including some changes. Kevin Muller – Utah Environmental Congress Kevin gave Commissioners a power point about UEC and explained their interest in the SJC Landbill. Following the presentation there was considerable discussion among the Commissioner’s and those present for the meeting. Rick Bailey – SJC Administrator Rick presented one building permit for approval and signature. Julie Sword – Addition – US 163, Mexican Hat A motion to approve the building permit, provided all appropriate signatures are in place, was made by Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy. Commissioner Lynn Stevens seconded the motion. None opposed. Vote unanimous. Jerry McNeely – SJC Liaison Jerry reported to Commissioners on the various meetings he has attended including a Housing Authority Board and the Children’s Justice Center Board meeting. Thursday he plans to attend an AOG meeting. Tony Mondae, Planvest & Keith Price K20 Utah Tony and Keith gave a power point presentation to Commissioners on the economic impact that mining Potash will have on the County. Commissioners thanked them and stated that they would do what they could to help them get going here in the County. Commission Reports Commissioner Stevens reported that he spent all day Thursday here attending a landbill meeting and Friday spent the day with Ted Wilson from the Governor’s office. This week he plans to attend a CEU Board of Trustees meeting and then Scout Camp. Commissioner Adams reported that he attended a Health Care Planning meeting and plans to attend AOG on Thursday.
