SAN JUAN COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING February 16, 2010 The regular meeting of the San Juan County Commission was held at 10:00 A.M. in the Commission Room at Monticello, Utah. Present: Bruce Adams, Chairman Lynn Stevens, Commissioner Tammy Gallegos, SJC Administrative Assistant Norman L. Johnson, SJC Clerk/Auditor Dawn Shaw, SJC Deputy Clerk Absent: Kenneth Maryboy, Vice Chair Attendees: Cyndi Eldredge, Jerry McNeely, Marilyn Boynton, Carla Sorrell, Phil Lowe, Paul Barr, Charlie DeLorme, Walter Bird, Craig Halls A motion to approve the minutes of January 19 and February 8, 2010 was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Bruce Adams seconded the motion. None opposed. Vote unanimous. Phil Lowe – SJ Hospital Administrator Phil reported to Commissioners on the status of the strategic plan for the San Juan Hospital and the work he continues to do with Jeff Call. He thanked Commissioners for their support on various projects and also updated them on the current happenings at San Juan Hospital Cyndi Eldredge – SJC Personnel Cyndi presented a request to hire Melanie McKerry as the Montezuma Creek Satellite Librarian, a part time Step 25 position. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Bruce Adams seconded the motion. None opposed. Vote unanimous. Charlie DeLorme – SJC Ec. Development Charlie updated Commissioners on the various meetings he will be attending this week and stated that he would report back on the results of those. Charlie presented three out of state requests for approval and signature. One is for Pam Hanson to attend the Vancouver Travel Show in Vancouver B.C. in the amount of $1,617 and two for Charlie to Las Vegas, NV for a VOT sales mission in the amount of $993 and the other to Orlando, FL for the World Travel Trade Show in the amount of $2,169.60. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Bruce Adams seconded the motion. None opposed. Vote unanimous. Norman L. Johnson – SJC Clerk/Auditor Norman reported to Commissioners that the 2010 tax sale calendar is under way. It extends from March 1, 2010 where he will receive the Treasures official record of delinquent properties to May 20, 2010 when the tax sale will be held at 10:00 at the SJC Administration Building. Any properties on the tax sale list can be paid in full up until the time if the sale and be taken off the sale. Also Norman requested Commissioners to please go with the historical protocol of selling the possible properties at “fair market value” and not the taxable value or taxes due. Commissioners agreed with going in the historical direction of starting bidding at the fair market value. Rick Bailey – SJC Administrator Rick presented a procurement request for two Henke V-10 VEE Snowplows from Henke Manufacturing in the amount of $12,969/ea. for the Road Department. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Bruce Adams seconded the motion. None opposed. Vote unanimous. Jerry McNeely – SJC Liaison Jerry reported to Commissioners on the various meetings he has attended including SITLA. Commission Reports Commissioner Stevens reported that he attended a meeting last week sponsored by the Federal Government to discuss a Title 5 on the Recapture Canyon trail. This week he will be attending meetings in Salt Lake and Price. Commissioner Adams reported that he attended meetings in Salt Lake and Price last week and plans to be in Salt Lake this week. Executive Session – 11:28 A.M. A motion to go into executive session to discuss legal issues was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Bruce Adams seconded the motion. None opposed.
