SAN JUAN COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING April 13, 2009 The regular meeting of the San Juan County Commission was held at 10:00 A.M. in the Commission Room in Monticello, Utah. Present: Bruce Adams, Chairman Lynn Stevens, Commissioner Tammy Gallegos, SJC Administrative Assistant Norman L. Johnson, SJC Clerk/Auditor Dawn Shawn, SJC Deputy Clerk Absent: Kenneth Maryboy, Vice Chair Attendees: Jim Keyes, Jerry McNeely, Charlie DeLorme, Marilyn Boynton, Scott Burton, Greg Adams, David Cressler A motion to approve the minutes of April 6, 2009, with corrections to be made by Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy, was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Bruce Adams seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Greg Adams – SJC Planning & Zoning Greg presented the Pacheco subdivision plat for approval and signature. There was discussion about some of the roads in the subdivision and Greg stated that the owner was informed that the roads would have to be built to county specifications before the county would maintain them. A motion to approve the subdivision plat was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Bruce Adams seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Norman L. Johnson – SJC Clerk/Auditor Norman reported to Commissioners that there are seven properties that are five years delinquent on their taxes. He updated Commissioners on the properties and gave them a schedule of the tax sale calendar for May. He also states that he will have a title search done on the properties and prior to the sale a $250 administrative fee will be added to taxes, interest and penalties. Tammy Gallegos – SJC Administrative Assistant Tammy presented one building permit for approval and signature. Andrew Brown – Residence – Maddison Ave, La Sal A motion to approve the building permit, provided all appropriate signatures are in place, was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Bruce Adams seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Open Time and Other Business David Cressler, SJC Resident, reports to Commissioners that he would like to build an acedaline and evaporation pond near CR 377 south of the Ucolo Rd. Commissioners state that Mr. Cressler needs to contact neighbors and get a letter from them stating that he has their permission. If he is not able to get all neighbors to agree it we need to hold a public hearing. Jim Keyes, USU Extension, made a request to purchase some dogey calves for youth to practice roping and other rodeo skills. He states that this would be a great incentive to get more kids involved in rodeo activities. Commission Reports Commissioner Stevens reports he will be attending UAC meetings in Richfield later this week. Commissioner Adams reports he attended a SITLA meeting last Tuesday and SPEAR on Wednesday then traveled to Salt Lake to meet with Representative Matheson’s staff for the transportation round table. This week he plans to attend UAC in Richfield. 10:55 A.M. – Executive Session A motion to go into executive session to discuss personnel issues was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Bruce Adams seconded the motion. None opposed.
