SAN JUAN COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING October 27, 2008 The regular meeting of the San Juan County Commission was held at 10:00 A.M. in the Commission Room at Monticello, Utah. Present: Kenneth Maryboy, Vice Chairman Lynn Stevens, Commissioner Tammy Gallegos, SJC Administrator Norman L. Johnson, SJC Clerk/Auditor Dawn Shaw, SCJ Deputy Clerk Absent: Bruce Adams, Chairman Attendees: Cyndi Eldredge, Marilyn Boynton, Richelle Silas, Grace Tsosie, Stella Lee, Dori Sam, Scott Burton, Mike Lacy, Neil Joslin Cyndi Eldredge - SJC Personnel Cyndi presented a request to transfer Laura Kelly from the senior center to the Sheriffs office as a Dispatcher. Laura will move from a Grade 1 Step 1 to a Step 63. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Cyndi presented a request to hire Danielle Adams as the part time Blanding Library Assistant. This is a Grade 1 Step 1 position. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Cyndi presented a request to hire Heather Earl as the part time Monticello Senior Center Aide. A Grade 1 Step 1 position. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Grace Tsosie - SJC Resident Grace and other residents of the Riverview trailer park in Montezuma Creek expressed their concern over the Aneth Chapter passing a Resolution to demolish the park. All but four of the trailers have been moved out of the trailer park and the remaining residents are seeking funds to move their homes. Commissioner Stevens was sympathetic with their situation but stated that there is no procedure to help County citizens move their homes, and if the County was to help them relocate the other residents could possibly want reimbursed the costs of moving. Commissioner Maryboy recommended that they go to the Aneth Chapter and ask for help. -1- Tammy Gallegos - SJC Administrative Assistant Tammy presented two building permits for approval and signature. White Mesa Ute Council - Office - Southwest Blanding Brad Stevens - Garage - Mountain View Dr, La Sal A motion to approve the building permits, provided all appropriate signatures are in place, was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Tammy presented a procurement request for a 120 lb. Air Grease Pump for the Road Department in the amount of $618.45 from Unique Track. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Open Time and Other Business Mike Lacy presented a request to Commissioners to extend the Domestic Violence Contract. After a brief discussion, Commissioner Lynn Stevens made a motion to approve the request. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Commission Reports Commissioner Stevens attended the Canyon Country Partnership meeting last week at Dead Horse Point. He also took members from the State Park Board of Directors on a tour of some parts of the County by horseback Friday and Saturday. Commissioner Maryboy reported that he attended the Navajo Nation Fall Session last week and a Youth Drug Prevention paint ball tournament. He plans to go to Salt Lake this week and meet with Bill Dew. Adjourn 11:21 A.M. -2-
