SAN JUAN COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING August 4, 2008 The regular meeting of the San Juan County Commission was held at 10:00 A.M. in the Commission Room at Monticello, Utah. Present: Bruce Adams, Chairman Kenneth Maryboy, Vice Chairman Lynn Stevens, Commissioner Rick Bailey, SJC Administrator Norman L. Johnson, SJC Clerk/Auditor Dawn Shaw, SCJ Deputy Clerk Attendees: Cyndi Eldredge, Linda Larsen, Charlie DeLorme A motion to approve the minutes of July 28, 2008, with corrections, was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Cyndi Eldredge - SJC Personnel Cyndi presented a request to hire Jack Webb as the part time Mexican Hat/Bluff transfer station attendant a Grade 1 Step 1 position. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Cyndi presented a request to hire Nolan Young, Matthew Haws, and Carina Martineau as temporary full time laborers for the North Road Department. All are grade 1 Step 33 positions. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Cyndi presented a request to hire Darrell Dee and Joseph Hathale, with Brian Hatcher as an alternate, as temporary full time laborers for the South Road Department. All are Grade 1 Step 33 positions. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy. Commissioner Lynn Stevens seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Linda Larsen - SJC EMS Linda presented a letter for Commission signature, giving EMS workers permission to distribute controlled substances to patients under the guidance of Dr. Mahana Fisher and the Bureau of EMS, until the Personnel Policy Manual is updated. -1- Rick Bailey - SJC Administrator Rick presented an inter-local agreement, on State PILT payments, with San Juan School District for Commission signature. Rick presented a contract with Contact One Inc. For approval and signature. A motion to approve the contract was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Bruce Adams declared the motion carried. Rick presented a contract for environmental assessment for the Aneth street light project with Jones and DeMille for approval and signature. Commission Reports Commissioner Maryboy attended a special session last Tuesday for the Navajo Nation. Tomorrow he plans to go to Window Rock for a budget hearing. Wednesday and Thursday there will be a Navajo Nations Ec. Development Meeting. Commissioner Stevens attended the ground breaking for the Natural History Museum last week in Salt Lake and also met with the State Librarian. He reports that the CEU Board of Trustees meet tomorrow to discuss merging with USU. Commissioner Stevens will be in the County until Friday and then out of the County until August 17th. Commissioner Adams attended UAC and UCIP last week. He reports the he and Commissioner Maryboy will be attending a Utah Navajo Revitalization meeting today in Navajo Mountain and he plans to spend most of the week at the fair. Adjourn 11:00 -2-
