MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' MEETING HELD AT MONTICELLO, UTAH, ON SEPTEMBER 8, 1959, at 10 A. M.

Meeting of the County Commissioners was held at the San Juan County Court House on September 8, 1959, in-stead of the 7th day of September, which was a Holiday. Meeting convened at 10 A. M., with all Commissioners and Clerk present.

RALPH AND NADA HUNT ASK FOR LICENSE TO CONDUCT BUSINESS WHEREBY PRIVATELY OWNED LIQUOR MAY BE CONSUMED ON PREMISES

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hunt were present to discuss obtaining a license to conduct a business whereby pri-vately owned liquor may be consumed on the premises by the owners of the liquor. Seth Wright, County Sheriff, and F. Bennion Redd, County Attorney, were called in for consultation. The matter was continued until such time as the County Attorney can assemble more information.

CITY MANAGER DISCUSSES CITY OWNERSHIP OF SWIMMING POOL WITH BOARD

Homer Chandler was present in behalf of the City of Monticello to/discuss ownership of the Swimming Pool at Monticello and conditions under which the City will accept such ownership. The requirements under which it will be accepted are as follows: 1. That the City be given a deed to the property including a land description, and right of ingress and egress. 2. That no special audit be required, but that the County accept the audit of city expenditures and receipts. 3. That instead of a special amount being

made to help offset deficits, that the City negotiate with the County each year to meet a deficit if such

there be.

The County Commissioners stated that the County Recreation Committee had already approved the changes and that they will be accepted by the Board of County Commissioners and that the County Attorney draw up an agreement to include the above recommendations.

DR. GOON GETS COMMITMENT FROM BOARD TO TAKE OVER DR.'S RESIDENCE IF HE DECIDES TO LEAVE

Dr. Goon was present to discuss the possibility of the County taking over his proposed residence should he decide to leave the County. F. Bennion Redd was called in for consultation and it was opinion that the County could negotiate to take such action.

A motion was made by Commissioner Hazleton, seconded by Commissioner Bartell, and carried, that in the event that Dr. Goon should depart from San Juan County, that the county purchase his residence at actual market value providing that he has not already sold it privately.

COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT TO BE CARRIED OUT BY BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT AND SAN JUAN COUNTY FOR A STOCK COUNT WITHIN THE COUNTY.

Nick Cosakas, representing the Bureau of Land Management, was present to discuss a mutual agreement be-tween the Bureau of Land Management and San Juan County in regards to a stock count for the next year. After due consideration a motion was made by Commissioner Bartell, seconded by Commissioner Hazleton, and carried, that the County of San Juan go along with the Bureau of Land Management on a co-operative basis for a stock count within the County.

STANLEY LYMAN MEETS WITH BOARD REGARDING ROAD NEAR RECATURE HILL NORTH OF BLANDING

Stanley Lyman was present to ask that the Board inspect the road south and east of Recapture before gravel-ling same. He stated that there was a very bad switchback on the road that could very easily be improved. After due consideration, it was unanimously agreed that the County Engineer and Road Foreman for Blanding should inspect the road and make their recommendations to the Board.before gravelling is started.

FROST BLACK MAKES PROPOSITION TO COUNTY ON TD18 "CAT"

Mr. Walton stated that Mr. Frost Black had contacted him to see if the County was interested in buying a used TD 18 "Cat", with a 6 yard can, at the price of $9500.00. The matter was continued.

COUNTY TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS ON GASOLINE

A motion was made by Commissioner Bartell, seconded by Commissioner Hazleton, and unanimously carried, that San Juan County advertise for bids on gasoline on a 3 month contract, also to include advertising for bu-tane gas.

CLERK TO WRITE LETTER TO ROCKY MOUNTAIN MACHINERY COMPANY INREGARDS TO NEW GRADER

The Clerk was directed to write to Rocky Mountain Machinery Company that the 14 inch tires on the new motor grader recently purchased from Rocky Mountain Machinery Company are too large for the rims and they ought to exchange rims to fit the 14 inch tires at no extra cost.

Also, that there is a leak in the Power Flow and that it has been leaking ever since it has been in the County that requires the attention of the Company, and that up to date 7 quarts of fluid have had to be added.

CLERK TO ORDER TIRES

The Clerk was directed to order the following truck tires from Bailey, Inc.

2 10-20 tires and tubes Nylon 12 Ply 2 10-22-5 tubeless tires Nylon 12 Ply

PURCHASE ORDERS TO BE USED IN ROAD DEPARTMENT

The Clerk was directed to order Purchase Order Forms to be used in the road department.
