MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' MEETING HELD IN REGULAR SESSION ON MONDAY, THE 4th DAY OF AUGUST, 1969.

Meeting opened at 10:30 O'clock A. M. with Commissioner Hazleton in the Chair.
MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING WERE READ AND APPROVED. Motion for approval was made by Commissioner Black, seconded by Commissioner Young and carried unanimously.
APPOINTMENT TO JOINT AIRPORT COMMITTEE
As an Airport has been considered to serve Southeastern Utah and possible Western Colorado, this being a joint venture between Grand County and San Juan County; Commissioner Black moved to appoint the fol-lowing to this committee: Edway Redd, Eddie Boyle and Calvin Black. Commissioner Young seconded this motion and it carried unanimously.
MESQUITO PROBLEM IN BLUFF AREA
The Commissioners called in Mr. George Endter to discuss spraying for mesquitos in the Bluff area. Mr. Endters informed the Commission of the worst infested areas and stated that he could spray the area possibly Wednesday, August 6th.
Surfacing and improvements at the Monticello Airport were discussed. CIVIL DEFENSE REPORTS
Joe Berry reported to the Commission that there are available at the surplus warehouses, Ambulances of the Cadillac and Pontiac make, possibly 6 or 7 years old and with low mileage and reasonably priced.

The Commissioners instructed Mr. Berry to check out the vehicles available and the price, as the County might decide to have an ambulance in the Montezuma Creek area.
Mr. Berry then reported on Civil Defense matters and the survey on Fall-out shelters in the County. He also stated that he intended to contact the Navajo Tribe to determine what steps they plan to take to care for their people in case of a nuclear attack.
Fire Fighting problems in various areas of the County were discussed, and the need for fire fighting equipment.
COUNTY FAIR DISCUSSED
Anne Porter met with the Commission to discuss various aspects of the County Fair. The Farm Bureau
Talent Show was evaluated and it was decided that this entertainment was actually a County Program.
The Commissioners stated that if money prizes were to be awarded, then a small Door Fee would be charged.
SIGNING REQUESTED FOR CAMPGROUNDS
Clyde Thompson met with the Commission and stated that he considered Camp Ground signs should be located in appropriate places as a courtesy to tourists. The Commissioners answered that they would contact the local Ranger and recommend that signs be posted.
NON-DESCR1MINAT1QN CLAUSE SIGNED - RE: FEDERAL AID THRU' FOREST SERVICE
Commissioner Black moved that the Chairman be authorized to sign the non-descrimination clause received from the Manti-LaSal Forest Service. Commissioner Young seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
DUES FOR SOUTH EASTERN UTAH ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT were requested from Jesse S. Tuttle, Director, As there was a question as to whether this amount was included in this years' budget, the matter was TABLED for the present.
PURCHASING FOR VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS WITHIN THE COUNTY was discussed. A Central Purchasing Clerk and office was suggested.
