MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' MEETING HELD IN REGULAR SESSION ON MONDAY, THE 2nd DAY OF JUNE, 1969

Meeting opened at 10:30 A. M. with Commissioner Hazleton in the Chair.

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING WERE READ AND APPROVED, motion for approval was made by Commissioner Young, seconded by Commissioner Black and carried unanimously.

DEPUTY HIRE IN SHERIFF'S OFFICE DISCUSSED

Sheriff Musselman introduced Mr. LeRoy Martin and John L. Wike to the Commissioners as applicants for the position of Deputy Sheriff. The Commissioners interviewed the men and excused them.

POWER COMPANY REPRESENTATIVES MEET WITH COMMISSIONERS

Mr. Lee Pratt, Attorney for Empire Electric, and Mr. Patterson, Manager for San Miguel Power Ass'n. met with the Commission to request a change in the wording in the Franchise with the County. Mr. Pratt stated that these co-ops are now Public Utilities since the Legislative action of 1965. The Commissioners informed the visitors that they would discuss this with Utah Power & Light Company before making any decision.

ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR MONTEZUMA CREEK HEALTH FACILITY REQUESTED

Cleal Bradford met with the Commission to request a letter asking for $4,000. additional from the Utah

Division of Indian Affairs to help meet additional expenses in the construction costs of the Health

Facility.

The Clerk was instructed to prepare the letter for Mr. Bradford to present to the U.D.I.A.

SALE OF SPRAYING EQUIPMENT APPROVED

Lynn Adams, Roads Clerk, informed the Commission that Dale Fuller -has offered to pay $35.00 for a tank and spray equipment owned by the County. The Commissioners approved the sale of the above-mentioned equipment to Mr. Fuller.

DEEDS EXECUTED ON COUNTY-OWNED HOUSES

Young Commissioner moved to adopt a Resolution authorizing the Clerk to sign the Deeds

on the County-owned houses conveying them to the high bidder. Commissioner Black seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

RESOLUTION

Be it Resolved by the Board of County Commissioners that Clytie Barber, County Clerk, be authorized to execute the Deeds on behalf of San Juan County, conveying the County-owned houses to the high bidders.

COUNTY ATTORNEY ON CLEAN-UP ORDINANCE

County Attorney, F. Bennion Redd, met with the Commission and advised them that they have the authority to go in on private property and clean up weeds or unsightly conditions and add the expense to the taxes, after a Clean-up Ordinance is adopted.

The Commissioners instructed the County Attorney to prepare a Draft Ordinance in line with the foregoing.

The County Attorney also requested permission to attend a Law Enforcement meeting scheduled for the following week in Salt Lake City. The Commissioners authorized the Attorney to attend the meet.

SCHOOL VOTING DISTRICT BOUNDARIES DISCUSSED

As this is the year to approve or change the voting district boundaries, the Clerk was instructed to contact the School Superintendent and invite him to meet with the Commission the following Monday to discussthis matter.

The Superintendent replied that he would be in School Board meeting all day Monday and suggested that the Commission meet with the entire Board in the afternoon and discuss the matter with them.
