MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' MEETING HELD AT MONTICELLO, UTAH ON JULY 20, 1959 at 10 A. M. PLANS DISCUSSED FOR COUNTY FLOAT

George H. Newell was present to discuss plans for the County Floats to be entered in the parade on July 24th, in Monticello.

CIVIL DEFENSE LEADER OR DIRECTOR PRESENT TO DISCUSS MEETING IN SALT LAKE CITY ON JULY 22nd.

A. J. Redd, Civil Defense Director, present to discuss with the County Commissioners the meeting in Salt Lake City on July 22nd for the organization of San Juan County Civil Defense. Director Redd and Womens' Director Wilamelia Barton will be in attendance, the Commissioners being unable to be represented at this time. The County will pay expenses of the trip.

CLERK TO WRITE TO UTAH STATE AGENCY FOR PRIORITY ON CRAWLER TRACTOR AND CADILLAC AMBULANCE SHOULD THEY BECOME AVAILABLE

In answer to a letter of July 14, 1959 in which the County asked for the opportunity of bidding on a crawler tractor and Cadillac ambulance from the Atomic Energy Commission should such equipment become available as surplus property, the County will be sent notice of an invitation to bid.

The Clerk was also directed to write to theUtah State Agency for surplus property consisting of a crawler tractor and ambulance should such equipment Become available on a donation basis.

COUNTY SHERIFF TO CONTACT TRENA WILLIAMS ON OPERATION OF TAVERN AT BLUFF

A motion was made by Commissioner Hazleton, seconded by Commissioner Bartell, and carried, that the Sheriff of San Juan County contact Mrs. Trena Williams with regard to operation of the Twin Rocks Store and Tavern and that he refresh her memory as to her agreement with Commissioner Bayles, Barteli and Walton, that Mar-tin Nielson is not to operate said tavern, and that Mrs. Williams make necessary changes immediately.

UNPAID TAXES OF MINING COMPANIES DISCUSSED

Marian Bayles, County Treasurer, County Assessor Ralph Burtenshaw, and County Attorney Attorney F. Bennion Redd, were present to discuss means of making collections on unpaid taxes of mining companies on jeoprady assessments. The County Attorney announced that steps have been taken to make known to the State Tax Com-mission unpaid taxes on mining companies and that he is waiting further order from them. The County Treas-urer was asked to prepare an up to date accounting on assessments for this year of companies that are in danger of jeoprady and give to the County Attorney for processing.

LETTER FROM CHARLES REDD STATES THAT CATTLE GUARDS ARE READY TO BE INSTALLED

A letter from Charles Redd states that cattle guards are available for installation between Redd Ranches and Max Wilcox, and between Redd Ranches and Max Bailey's range for County installation as previously agreed upon.
