PRESENT: Marion H. Hazleton, Chairman

Calvin Black, Member

Harold C. Young, Member

Clytie Barber, Clerk

Meeting opened at 10:00 O'clock A. M. with Commissioner Hazleton in the Chair.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read. The Commissioners requested that the wording in the entry regarding the raise for the Custodian be changed to read: "The Commission will consider a raise of 5% after January 1, 1970".

With the foregoing correction, Commissioner Young moved to approve the minutes; Commissioner Black seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

ROAD NUMBERING CHANGES DISCUSSED

Commissioner Black presented a letter addressed to Howard Leatham protesting the road numbering. Said letter was approved by Commissioner Hazleton and Commissioner Young and forwarded to Mr. Leatham.

The matter of giving a daily weather report to the State Travel Council was discussed. SHOP BUILDING AT BLANDING APPROVED

Commissioner Black introduced the motion to authorize a new Shop Building in Blanding with an approximate size of 40' x 100' and also to authorize the Roads Clerk and Commissioner Young to draw up the specifica-tions. Commissioner Young seconded the foregoing motion-and it carried unanimously.

PUBLIC DEFENDER FOR COUNTY DISCUSSED

County Attorney F. Bennion Redd and Atty. Bruce Halliday met with the Commission to discuss hiring a Public Defender for the County on a Retainer Fee. Amounts paid by the County for this service in the past two years was discussed. Atty. Halliday stated that he would not be interested in the position at $1200. per year.

Attorney Redd advised the Commission that he would request Judge Sheya to authorize City Judge, Philip Palmer and the J.Ps. to appoint local attorneys for those defendants needing council and not go thru' the District Court as previously done. This could save the County some expense.
