MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MEETING HELD IN REGULAR SESSION ON MONDAY, THE 15th DAY OF DECEMBER , 1969.

Meeting opened at 10:15 O'clock A. M. with Commissioner Hazleton in the Chair.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Motion for approval was made by Commissioner Black, seconded by Commissioner Young and carried unanimously.
DISTRICT JUDGE DISCUSSES INDIGENT DEFENSE COSTS
Judge Edward Sheya met with the Commission to discuss the cost to the County for defense for indigents.
He mentioned the consideration he gives to avoid excessive costs.
He requested an extension phone in the Judge's Chambers, also, he requested that the County furnish the
Publication "U. S. Law Week" for the use of the Seventh District Judges' use at a cost of $150.00 per
year.
The Commissioners were agreeable to the foregoing requests.
STATE-FORESTER ON AGREEMENT FOR 1970 SEASON
Marc Hughes, representing the State Forester, met with the Commission to discuss the Agreement for the 1970 Fire Season, and Budget figures.
BUDGET FIGURES DISCUSSED WITH SHERIFF
Sheriff Musselman met with the Commission to discuss budget figures. The Commissioners assisted in reviewing necessary expenses raises for the Sheriff's department. A Budget cut of approximately $9,385.00 was realized.

BID OPENING ON COUNTY INSURANCE
This being the day and hour advertised for opening of bids for insurance for San Juan County, the following campanies submitted bids: Farmers Insurance Group
Central Utah Insurance Agency.
Various portions and areas of the policy were discussed with Eddie Boyle, Dave Bailey and James Lundberg. No decision was made at this writing.
BUDGETS DISCUSSED WITH DEPARTMENT HEADS
The remainder of the afternoon was spent discussing 1970 budgets with the Department heads.
TENTATIVE MILL LEVY SET FOR 1970
Upon motion or Commissioner Young, seconded by Commissioner
Black, and passed unanimously, the County Mill levy is tentatively set at 17.63 mills; however, this is based on a 47 million valuation figure. The 1970 Budget was unanimously approved this day.
