MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' MEETING HELD IN REGULAR SESSION ON MONDAY, THE 14th DAY OF JULY, 1969

MEETING opened at 10:15 O'clock A. M. with Commissioner Hazleton in the Chair.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Motion for approval was made by Commissioner Black, seconded by Commissioner Young and carried unanimously.
AL EDUCATION T.V. DISCUSSED
Bruce Stevens and Dr. Kenneth Maughan met with the Commission to finalize the agreement on Channel K.U.E.D. The present arrangement provides for the District to pay two-thirds on the equipment cost and the County to pay one-third and provide the maintenance.
ROAD IMPROVEMENTS & FENCE LINES In Eastland area were discussed with J. W. Crowley.

AGREEMENT WITH L.D.S. CHURCH ON PARKING LOT DISCUSSED
Lisle Adams and Ken Bailey met with the Commission to discuss the provisions to be included in the Agreement between the Church & County on the Parking Lot.
Following a discussion, Lisle Adams stated he would draw up the Agreement for the Commission approval and signatures.
COUNTY FAIR DISCUSSED WITH SUPERINTENDENT MAUGHAN
Dates for the County Fair and use of part of the High School Building and grounds were discussed with Superintendent Maughan. It was suggested that the Fair Committee meet later in the day to decide which days are convenient for all concerned.
CIVIL DEFENSE DIRECTOR REPORTS
Joe Berry gave a verbal report on Civil Defense and Fire Fighting since Junel, 1969. The Commissioners suggested a monthly report sheet that could be filed for future reference. Mr. Berry also reported that Frank Reeder from the State Civil Defense office would be in the County later in the day to start conducting a Shelter survey throughtout the County, also that the Corps of Engineers would be in the County to evaluate the mines far use as shelters.
RECREATION EMPLOYEES MEET WITH COMMISSION
LaRay Alexander, Karl Blake, Marvin Lindquist, Ray Odette, Norman Lyman, Dan Barfus and Darroll Young met with the Commission to discuss matters pertaining to hourly pay for Swim Pool employees and Life Guards. Uniformity in salary & responsibility of various employees was discussed. It was agreed to abide by the following schedule for the remainder of this season:
Monticello Cage Girl - $1.50 per hour Relief girl - 1.25 "
Blanding Gage Girls - 1.25 " " Blanding Life Guard - 2.25 " Monticello Life Guard - 1.50 " "
It was also agreed that Recreation Employees would meet with the Commission prior to the opening of the next season, and agree to a uniformity of salary to be paid for various jobs.
Mr. Alexander suggested that County and City law enforcement personnel patrol the recreation areas at intervals in an effort to prevent vandalism.
It was the opinion of those present that the Cities and School District should share in the cost of the Recreation Program and the responsibilities, and have a general group planning meet prior to the opening of the season.
GOLF PROGRAM DISCUSSED
Grant Leavitt, Darroll Young and Ray Odette met with the Commissioners to discuss matters pertaining to the Golf Course.
The Commission cautioned Mr. Leavitt on the high expenditures for salaries, thus far in the season and
stated that if the money budgeted does not last the season, the Course will be required to close.
Improvements and maintenance for the Course were discussed. COUNTY VALUATION NOTICE RECEIVED FROM STATE
Robert Cooper from the State Tax Commission, visited San Juan County briefly and brought the State Tax
Commission Assessment (Book 8) for 1969. The State Assessments are down approximately 3 million, while the locally assessed are up approximately % million. This gives a total figure of $48,583,711. which
is below the 1968 figure in the amount of $2,477,682. (approximately 2% million) With the expected additionals, the final figure should be approximately 49 million for 1969.
LASAL RESIDENTS REQUEST ASSISTANCE IN RECREATION PROGRAM
Mrs. Dayle R. Robertson sent a letter to the Commission requesting repairs and improvements at their
recreation area and consideration for swimming instruction for the children of that area.
Mr. Robertson and Hardy Redd had previously contacted the Commission for the same consideration.
