SAN JUAN COUNTY WELFARE AGENT PRESENTS PROBLEM
Harold Blanck, County Welfare Representative, presented a problem to the commissioners regarding Navajo Indian burial expenses. If a Navajo Indian, who has been receiving welfare, dies,is the county responsi-ble for the burial expenses? There is no provision whereby the State Welfare Department will bear the ex-ense and it therefore falls to the county to take care of such obligations. A suggestion was made to con-tact the Navajo Tribal Council and ask if they would take care of such burials. A mimimum burial cost is approximately $50.00. The clerk was asked to write a letter to the Tribal Council.

He was asked to prepare a list of tools and equipment needed for the work, and to also take an inventory of tools and equipment owned by the county which could be used, the list to be presented to commissioners for approval.
TAX ADJUSTMENT ASKED FOR
M. C. Turner asked county commissioners to waive interest of approximately $20.00 on 1953 personal property tax because he hadn't been notified that tax was due or delinquent. A motion was made by Commissioner Bartell seconded by Commissioner Hazleton that interest be waived, and the County Treasurer so instructed of the motion. The Treasurer, Marian Bayles was present at the meeting.

Notice of a Public Hearing to extend the Zoning Ordinance to include all State Highways in San Juan County, excluding Indian Reservation, having previously been published on April 10th and April 17th, 1959, in the San Juan Record, a newspaper having general circulation in San Juan County, and no one having appeared to protest at the Public Hearing which was set for this day at 11 A. M., a meeting was called this day to so amend the Zoning Ordinance to include all State Highways in San Juan County, excluding Indian Reservation.
A motion was made by Commissioner Bartell, seconded by Commissioner Hazleton, and unanimously carried, that the Zoning Ordinance be amended to include all State Highways, excluding Indian Reservation. It was further motioned that the Clerk designate such highways in red on the Zoning Map which is on display in the Clerk's Office and which is a part of the Zoning Ordinance.
